The past few weeks I’ve been spamming my Instagram followers with edits about my favorite characters (it’s @emtheauthor if you want to join in on the fun) because I’ve been working on a character-related project of my own.

First off, can I just say that characters are the best? Truly, they are the greatest things fiction has to offer. A good story needs several elements to come together well, but—at least for me—characters are the most important part. I’d much rather have a developed, deep, and human character just sitting around all day than a piece of cardboard attempting the most daunting adventure of all time.

Maybe it’s because I owe so much to characters.

After all, Bella and the Cullens showed me endurance and the true meaning of family. Katniss taught me what it takes to be an older sister and how to handle that responsibility. Captain American and Peggy continue to illustrate how to keep living and fighting when you yourself are lost. Melanie and Wanda are some of the best examples of compassion and facing impossible obstacles. Elsa teaches a little something about self-perception, which Rapunzel teaches how your dreams can keep you alive. And we can’t forget the loyalty of Hermione Granger, how she kept going even after every odd was stacked against her.

Those are just a few of my favorites, and I love them all with my whole entire soul.

What’s the point of this? Right. The point is that I’ve been taking another look at all of my favorite characters as I’ve been working on my own, and it worked and was so much fun.

I finished a character index for my books! Wahoo!

What does that mean? It means there is now a place on my website you can go to name check, get your facts straight, and learn new things about your favorite characters in Arie’s Story.

Oh my goodness, guys, this was so fun to do and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
