I’m assuming at least one of you readers out there have heard of the novel If I Stay by Gayle Forman–if not, then perhaps you have seen the advertisements for the movie that came out a few weeks ago.
And still, if not, then I have provided for you the video in this post so you can bite your lip, blow on your watery eyes, and have your heart broken with those of us who have seen it.
Disclaimer: I’ve never read the book. Yes, it goes against the very fabrics of which I was created to see a movie without reading the book first or at least at all. I’ve made peace with it. The book is on my list.
Get your tissue box ready.
Did you cry? I’m not the crying type, but I will come clean and admit that my eyes did water.
First off, the song is Say Something by A Great Big World feat. Christina Aguilera. I love this song, so I was already biased because of the tune. Second, I like Chloë Grace Moretz. I haven’t seen her in much, but I like her. And third, I just think the way the trailer came together–music, storyline, cinematography–was absolutely beautiful.
Here comes in one of my philosophies: there are trailers that make better movies than their actual movies. I also think this of Perks of Being a Wallflower, even though I actually haven’t seen the movie. I love the trailer. I get the emotion, the heart, the message of the movie perfectly in the trailer, better than I think I would in the movie. For me, If I Stay was that kind. I will watched the three minute trailer over and over again, my heart nearly cracking in half every time, and gained more satisfaction than I did walking out of the theater. I don’t know why. Maybe it was the boyfriend. He kinda bugged me.
And, yes, I did cry in the movie. I’ll admit it. But, come on, the grandpa came in and it was all so emotional and tears were totally justified.
Just a few random thoughts on a Youtube gem.
